Debt Reduction
Reduce & Repay
The ATO imposes General Interest Charge (GIC) to debts to ensure people that have paid their taxation obligations on time, are not disadvantaged by those that have not paid their tax on time.
In some circumstances, the ATO may consider a remission of GIC and Penalties on debts, which may significantly reduce your debt and allow you to pay it back faster.
It is critical that the application is prepared by an expert as a refusal by the ATO will most certainly prove difficult to overturn. In fact, the ATO will often direct you to lodge an objection to their refusal decision with the Federal Court, which is costly and unlikely to change the outcome.
